CENTENARY OF WWI - INTERNATIONAL MAIL ART PROJECT

ASTA VISUAL ART - TERM II 2014

Mail Art by Theresa Easton

This term we will be working on an international mail art project, focusing on the Centenary of World War I, with our final art pieces being displayed in Europe, locally at Redland Art Gallery and on the online project blog.

Being a mail art project we will be focusing on art that is postcard sized (A6), but this doesn't mean all the art you create has to be this size.  I hope you will be making lots of explorations - you could even cut down larger works into postcard sized bites.

You are to investigate methods of making editions of your images.

FOR EXAMPLE:

printmaking
photography
photocopying
stencilling
repeat collage images

This will mean we can keep copies of your works as well as send them off for inclusion in the exhibitions.

We want you to convey your thoughts/opinions/connections/perceptions
on Australia's involvement in World War I by investigating/commenting
on a facet of Australia's involvement in the conflict that resonates for you.

You may have strong views on wars and conflicts you would like to convey.
You may see parallels with other topics.
You may like to highlight family ancestors who were involved in WWI.
